The City of Fort Walton Beach and Hurlburt Field recently joined forces to construct a new 12-inch reuse water main, connecting the base’s wastewater treatment facility to the City’s new reuse water system on Lovejoy Road.  The new reuse water system will eventually provide the opportunity for Hurlburt, the City, and its citizens to utilize treated wastewater for irrigation, industrial processes, and other non-potable uses that decrease the demand on the Floridian Aquifer, the City’s source for drinking water.  Construction of the first phase of the 28,000-linear foot pipeline began in August 2006 and was completed in December 2006.
