CALL TO ORDER

President Craig Barker called the meeting to order at 12:10 p.m. at Two Trees Restaurant

 

PRESENT BOARD MEMBERS

Craig Barker (President) - Destin

Nick Chubb (Secretary/Treasurer) - Cinco Bayou

Charles Baugh - Crestview

Dick Rynearson - Fort Walton Beach

Dan Henkel - Niceville

Gary Combs - Shalimar

 

ALSO PRESENT

Col. Bruce McClintock - Eglin AFB

Georgia Phillips - City of Rockledge

Wayne Harris - Okaloosa County

Tina Smith - Shalimar

 

MINUTES:  March 2, 2009 - Mayor Combs moved to approve the minutes of the March 2, 2009 Executive Board Meeting.  The motion was seconded by Councilman Baugh and passed unanimously.

 

TREASURER’S REPORT:  The Balance is $3009.87 after paying $99.99 for the March Meeting Lunch.  Mayor Combs moved to approve the Treasurer’s Report.  The motion was seconded by Councilman Baugh and passed unanimously.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

-  Valparaiso Request (letter attached) – The letter that Mayor Barker read at the dinner meeting was discussed by the Board.  Mayor Combs moved to withdraw the resolution that was approved at the March 2, 2009 Executive Board Meeting if Valparaiso will agree to come back.  Mayor Combs’ motion died for lack of a second.  Mayor Combs felt that a resolution of this importance should have been brought to everyone’s councils for approval before the Executive Board approved it.  Councilman Rynearson moved that Mayor Barker should send a letter to the City of Valparaiso . The motion was seconded by Councilman Chubb and passed unanimously.  Tina Smith was asked to draft up a letter and e-mail it out to the Executive Board for approval before Mayor Barker signs it.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

-  2nd VP for FLOC Candidate - Georgia Phillips (Councilwoman, City of Rockledge) - Ms. Phillips spoke to the board and handed out information pamphlets.

-  2009-2010 Web Contract (contract and invoice attached) - Councilman Baugh moved to renew the Web Contract with Tina Smith.  The motion was seconded by Mayor Combs and passed unanimously.

-  September Meeting date (Labor Day) - The next meeting falls on Labor Day and Two Trees already has a standing reservation for the 2nd Monday of each month.  Mayor Combs offered to host the next meeting.  Tina Smith will check the Shalimar reservation calendar and, if necessary, call Cinco Bayou to use their conference room.  The date for the September meeting will be e-mailed to everyone.

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

-  July 21, 2009 - OCLOC Dinner hosted by Fort Walton Beach - The dinner will be held at Two Trees Restaurant.  The invitations will go out this month.

-  September 7, 2009 - OCLOC lunch meeting

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS/REPORTS FROM CITIES:

Cinco Bayou

-  Held first public town hall meeting for underground utilities and will probably go out for bids soon.

Crestview

-  Looking forward to the Joint Strike Fighter moving to the area as well as the 7th Special Forces move to the southern border of the city.

-  Florida A&M is looking at a building in the city as a future site for a Pharmaceutical School .

-  There are 2 new schools opening on the south side of the city.

Destin – Destin’s report is attached.

Eglin AFB – General Davis has taken command of the Air Armament Center as of 1 May and is interested in a relationship with the surrounding communities. 

Fort Walton Beach Fort Walton Beach is hosting the next dinner at Two Trees on July 21. General Davis will be the speaker.

Hurlburt Field – No one from Hurlburt was present.

Laurel Hill – No one from Laurel Hill was present.

Mary Esther – No one from Mary Esther was present.

Niceville

-  There have been reports made that the lanes at the intersection of Hwys. 85 and 20 are too confusing

-  There will be some property clearing on John Simms Pkwy. for Wal-Mart and Home Depot

-  The city is anticipating more families moving into the area because of the F-35 and 7th Special Forces

Okaloosa County Okaloosa County had nothing to report.

Shalimar – Shalimar had nothing to report.

Valparaiso – No one from Valparaiso was present.

 

ADJOURN – Mayor Combs moved to adjourn the meeting at 1:14 p.m.   The motion was seconded by Councilman Henkel and passed unanimously.
